Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Day to Day Substitute Teacher to support classrooms across our district, ensuring continuity of instruction in the regular teacher’s absence. The role emphasizes maintaining a positive learning environment and delivering quality instruction.

The ideal candidate will display flexibility, strong communication, and a passion for education, with the ability to adapt to various grade levels and subjects while adhering to school policies and confidentiality guidelines.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in education or related field (or relevant experience).
• Must hold valid state teaching certification or substitute permit.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain engaged and on task.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration regarding classroom activities and student needs.
• Assist students with their learning and address any questions or concerns they may have.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times as needed.
• Follow school policies and procedures, including emergency protocols and student confidentiality guidelines.
• Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student performance and classroom dynamics.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the varying needs of students.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities when available.
