The Learning Lamp is seeking a Traveling Substitute Teacher Liaison for the Greater Johnstown School District. This part-time role offers daily assignments based on district schedules with a pay range of $135.00–$145.00 per day. Responsibilities include classroom management, lesson delivery per plans, and ensuring student safety and engagement.

We are looking for a part-time Substitute Teacher Liaison to work in the Greater Johnstown School District.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

Classroom Management

• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Understand the responsibility of being a mandated child abuse/neglect reporter according to PA State Law
• Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom by straightening chairs and tables, cleaning chalkboard at the end of the day, and making sure all items are left as they were in the beginning of the day
• Take attendance in accordance with district procedures
• Indicate to students at the beginning of class the basic expectations for behavior in the class in accordance with school district policies
• Ensure that students are never left unattended in the classroom or put in an unsafe situation

Lesson Delivery

• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives
• Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher whenever they are available
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units or projects assigned

What are the required qualifications?

• A Bachelor's Degree is the minimal requirement.
• Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
