Job summary

District 70 is seeking day-to-day substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The Substitute Teacher daily rate of pay is $150.00 and we offer bonuses starting at $250 for 25 days worked, $325 for 50 days, $400 for 75 days, $475 for 90 days, and $550 for 120 days.

Qualifications include a Professional Educator License (PEL) or Professional Substitute License with Lake County Region 34 registration; ELS (Para) licenses are also considered, though may limit to Paraeducator roles depending

Job description

District 70 is seeking applicants for day‑to‑day substitute teachers for the 2026‑2027 school year. The Substitute Teacher daily rate of pay is $150.00 and we offer bonuses starting at $250 for 25 days worked, $325 for 50 days, $400 for 75 days, $475 for 90 days, and $550 for 120 days.

Qualifications:

Applicants MUST hold a "Professional Educator License" (PEL), or a "Professional Substitute License" and be registered in Lake County (Region 34). Those with ELS (Para) licenses will also be considered, but may have opportunities limited to Paraeducator jobs, depending on that license was obtained.

No previous teaching or student‑teaching is required, although applicants with education degrees and/or instructional experience are preferred.

Purpose:

To prepare learners to achieve their personal best; continue the learning prescribed for that day; provide direction for each student as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.
