Substitute Teacher (1574)# Substitute Teacher (1574)950 HART RD - BATAVIA, IL 60510## OverviewSalary Range$17.50 - $20.00 HourlyPosition TypeTemporary## Description**Employment Status:** Temporary, Part-Time, Non-exempt**Reports to**: Principal**Primary Function:** The Substitute Teacher serves Immanuel Lutheran Church and School (ILCS) by delivering rigorous, relevant curriculum and facilitating student participation and opportunities for mastery in assigned classes when the Teacher is absent.**Primary Responsibilities:**1. Act as a Christian role model for all school and church workers, volunteers, students, and families, sharing the Gospel of Jesus as Savior and Friend2. Embrace, support and participate in the team ministry of ILCS3. Maintain classroom decorum while following the Teacher’s prepared lesson plans4. Provide for the safety and supervision of each child in the school, using positive guidance techniques to support each child's self-esteem5. Contribute to the educational program by: * Demonstrating a working knowledge of the regulatory standards and the school policies and procedures for children and staff * Providing a stimulating teaching-learning environment, making use of a variety of instructional tools and teaching aids * Utilizing approved instructional material and appropriate equipment or technology for educational purposes * Maintaining the established routines and procedures of the school and assigned classroom * Maintaining high expectations for student conduct and enforcing expectations at school functions * Providing for the safety and cleanliness of equipment and classroom facilities6. Attend scheduled staff meetings and in-service programs as per staff policies7. Able to effectively manage a classroom and follow teacher’s prepared lesson plans7. Able to safely lift 30 lbs. and perform work requiring the ability to stoop and bend8. Able to maintain professional standards by keeping the confidentiality of children, families, staff, and the program9. Successful completion of a background check10. Able to meet any regulatory requirements of the position11. Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education12. Appropriate teaching certificate in the state of Illinois, or willingness to pursue the certificate13. Experience and/or training for service within an educational setting is preferred
