Job summary

SALADO ISD is looking for a dedicated substitute teacher to ensure continuity in the classroom when regular teachers are absent. Responsibilities include maintaining classroom routines, teaching outlined lessons, and following school policies. Job description

Summary

To be eligible to substitute in Salado ISD, an individual must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or higher education, and attend a substitute orientation provided by the district. Submit fingerprints for background check.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintains as fully possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom assigned.
  • Teaches the lessons outlined and described by the absent teacher.
  • Consults with the principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the lesson plan provided by the absent teacher.
  • Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching dictates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or higher

Language Skills

Experience working with students preferred, but not required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, administration, staff, parents, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
