Job summary

Poway Unified School District is seeking a substitute Bus Aide to assist in safely transporting students with special needs. You will load and unload students, operate a wheelchair lift, and secure seating and restraints as required.

The role requires high school graduation and experience with children with special needs, plus First Aid/CPR/AED certifications within six months of hire. Excellent communication with teachers and parents is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and demonstrated experience working with children with special needs.
• First aid, CPR, and AED certifications are required or obtained within six months of employment.
• Ability to work with physically handicapped or emotionally diverse students in a transportation setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing safe transportation for physically and mentally handicapped students; load and unload students; use a wheelchair lift as needed.
• Monitor student behavior; support and discipline per district policies; ensure seat belts and adaptive devices are secured.
• Provide activities and read to students; assist with behavior plans as required; document routine records.
