Job summary

Nassau BOCES is seeking a Substitute School Psychologist to support the Department of Special Education in Nassau County. You will conduct screenings and re-evaluations, develop and monitor FBAs and BIPs, and collaborate with teachers, students, and families to implement needed adaptations.

You will provide counseling, maintain records, and apply current school psychology practices to support students with autism and emotional/behavioral disorders. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• NYS Certification required for School Psychologist.
• NYS Psychology license or eligibility preferred.
• Experience with autism/emotional/behavioral disorders highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screenings of students referred by home districts.
• Conduct psychological re-evaluations for special education students.
• Develop and monitor FBAs & BIPs for students.
• Confer with teachers, students, parents and districts regarding behavioral data and adaptations.
• Support students' emotional, behavioral, and management needs.
• Deliver group and individual counseling per student IEP mandates.
• Maintain accurate records and Medicaid-related documents.
• Knowledge of current trends in school psychology and testing procedures.
