Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist Health Officer in providing care for students and staff, including First Aid.
• Apply nursing theory and evidence-based practices in school settings.
• Notify classroom teachers of ill/injured students' disposition when necessary.
• Secure and administer medication to students per LCTI procedures.
• Help maintain each student’s health records.
• Correspond with parents and healthcare providers about health needs, as directed.
• Assist in maintaining the health room facilities.
• Be willing to learn and perform new procedures for students with special needs.
• Adhere to confidentiality principles.
• Accompany ill or injured students to hospital when needed.

Responsibilities

• Aid Health Officer in providing care for students and staff, First Aid, etc.
• Apply appropriate nursing theory and evidence-based practices as the basis for decision making in the school setting.
• Inform classroom teachers, when necessary, of the disposition of ill or injured students.
• Secure and administer medication to students in accordance with LCTI's procedures.
• Assist the Health Officer in establishing and/or maintaining each student's health record.
• Correspond with parents and health care providers on the health needs of the students, as directed.
• Assist the Health Officer in the maintenance of the health room facility.
• Be willing to learn and to perform new procedures as they become necessary in the care of students with special needs and/or medically fragile students.
• Understands and adheres to the principles of confidentiality.
• Accompany ill or injured students to hospital as needed.
