Job summary

Upshur County Board of Education is seeking a Bus Operator to drive school buses from 15-passenger to 92-passenger vehicles, ensuring safe pickup and drop-off of students at scheduled locations. Duties include inspections, route familiarity, student supervision, and proper documentation.

Applicants must meet WV requirements: 21+ years old, 3+ years driving, WV CDL with endorsements, completion of School Bus Safety Program, CPR/First Aid, and pass medical and drug tests. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have at least three years of driving experience as a licensed operator of any vehicle.
• Must obtain and maintain WV CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Must successfully complete WV School Bus Safety Program and pass requisite online and skills tests.
• Must be able to climb in and out of bus to check engine compartment.
• Must maintain valid CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must pass a physical examination from a Medical Examiner and drug/alcohol screen.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus or other transportation vehicle to pick up and drop off students safely.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections and learn routes.
• Safely use fire extinguisher and assist students with disabilities.
• Communicate with students, parents, school staff and supervisors.
• Complete proper paperwork and handle overtime as needed.
