Job summary

Jefferson County Schools is seeking a Substitute Bus Operator to transport students safely to destinations, maintaining discipline and a clean vehicle. A valid WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements is required, along with a good driving record and excellent customer service.

Training and background checks are required as part of the application process. Responsibilities include learning routes, assisting students (including those with disabilities), performing pre/post trip

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Clean driving record with no accidents or violations.
• Must obtain and maintain WV CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Must successfully complete WV School Bus Safety Program and pass requisite tests.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform inspections.

Responsibilities

• Operate a bus safely to transport passengers to various destinations.
• Adhere to traffic laws and regulations while driving and perform pre/post inspections.
• Learn route, including pickup and drop-off locations.
• Assist and supervise students with disabilities and assist with boarding/exiting the bus.
• Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior and report any issues promptly.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
