Job summary

Hardy County Board of Education is seeking a Substitute School Bus Operator to cover countywide routes. This position requires meeting statutory qualifications and the ability to operate school buses safely.

Applicants must pass a background check, obtain WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, complete the WV School Bus Safety Program, and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Salary is based on the 2026-2027 salary scale.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check per WV Code 18-5-15c
• WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements required
• Must be 21+ years old
• Minimum 3 years driving experience as licensed operator
• Complete WV School Bus Safety Program and tests
• Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification
• Must pass FMCSA medical examination
• Subject to drug and alcohol screenings
• Meet WV SBOE Policy 4336 requirements

Responsibilities

• Operate substitute school bus for routes and assignments
• Follow designated routes and safety procedures
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and daily logs
