Qualifications

• Ability to work with children.
• Patient, even temperament and calmness under stress.
• Current CDL license with proper endorsements including Air Brake, passenger and school bus, or class D with endorsement 3, or willingness to obtain.
• Acceptable MVR.
• Acceptable background check.
• Good work record.
• Previous bus driver or related experience preferred.
• Negative results on pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Operates the school bus and other school vehicles in a safe and orderly manner according to state and federal regulations and board policies.
• Conducts pre-trip inspections on the vehicle and its equipment.
• Reports problems to transportation director.
• Drives the bus route on the established schedule, picking up or letting off students.
• Completes all reports as required.
• Conducts safety drills with students.
• Assist students during emergencies and evacuations.
• Operate two-way radios.
• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Reports accidents and completes required reports.
• Cleans assigned bus as needed to ensure visibility.
