Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. seeks an Associate Teacher for our Early Childhood Education team in Delano, CA. You will care for children 0-5, collaborate with supervisors, and support staff and families.

Responsibilities include planning activities, supervising buses, and completing health and safety trainings within 30 days of hire. A valid ECE credential pathway is required.

Qualifications

• 12 ECE/CD semester units with a C or better, or a CDA credential or CTC.
• 6 months related experience with children 0–5 years.
• Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• Meet criteria for HS/EHS/MSHS/State-Braided Associate Teachers (CDA, 12 ECE units, and infant/toddler units if needed) or be enrolled in a CDA program or hold an associate/bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children ages 0-5; ensure a positive learning experience.
• Collaborate with Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assist during teacher absence and support instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities promoting child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children (games, music, outdoor play).
• Assist with bus supervision and ensure safety during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR within 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of health practices and nutrition training within 30 days.

We are looking for dedicated individual to join our Early Childhood Education team as Associate Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children while supporting our mission to provide high-quality education and care.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
• Has an Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• HS/EHS/MSHS/State-Braided Associate Teachers must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Have a child development associate (CDA) credential or the California equivalent of a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit at time of hire (12 ECE semester units including core courses; and for EHS and infant/toddler classrooms must also have 6 infant/toddler semester units)
  • OR
  • Be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years;
  • OR
  • Have an associate or bachelor's degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver's license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.

As an Associate Teacher you will:

• Assume the responsibilities of a Teacher in their absence, guiding and supporting instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.

• Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision, ensuring the safety and engagement of children during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition, as required by Health and Safety Code within the first 30 days of hire.
