Job summary

Henry County School District seeks Substitute Paraprofessionals for the 2026/2027 school year to cover daily paraprofessional staff absences district-wide.

Under the direction of certified staff, you will assist students with special needs in academics and daily activities, follow a strict schedule, and assist with diapering needs. You will help students and teachers work toward IEP goals.

Qualifications

• MUST hold a valid Illinois ELS (Paraprofessional) license or Professional Educator License (PEL).
• Physically able to assist students throughout the building.
• Basic math and computer skills, plus some general office skills.
• Experience with special needs children preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate with staff, parents and students.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Teacher aides to substitute on an as needed basis to cover daily Paraprofessional staff absences. Under the direction of the certified staff member/team to which they are assigned, assist students with special needs that may include behavioral and/or emotional needs throughout the day with academics and daily school activities. Will assist the students in following a strict schedule and diapering needs. Aidthe students and teacher to ensure the success of students meeting their IEP goals.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS: MUSThold a valid Illinois ELS (Paraprofessional) licenseorProfessional Educator License(PEL). Applicant must be physically able to assist student throughout the building.
