Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with lesson plans, one-on-one and small group instruction, classroom management, and student observation.
• Complete 28 hours of training within the first year.
• Communicate with parents and staff as instructed by the teacher.
• Supervise students in classroom, cafeteria, and on playground.
• Collect data and report student progress; maintain accurate records.
• Provide positive behavior support and participate in meetings and trainings.
• Report regularly to supervisor about classroom schedule and atmosphere.
• Adapt teaching methods to achieve student goals; participate as part of the education team.

Reports To:Building Prinicpal

Job Goal:The Paraeducator is responsible for supporting and assisting students in various school settings.

Required Qualifications:

• Basic typing and computer skills.
• Ability to keep accurate records or daily student contact.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be patient, compassionate and persistent.
• Must pass physical.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assist the teacher in lesson plan preparation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation and assessment.
• Complete the Fundamental Course of Study (28 hours of continous training, provided by District) within first year of employment.
• Communicate with parents and staff in a variety of school settings as instructed by the teacher.
• Supervise students in the classroom, cafeteria and on playground.
• Collect data and report student progress.
• Maintain accurate data collection records.
• Provide positive behavior management support.
• Particpate in staff meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
• Report to supervisor regularly about the schedule and atmosphere in the classroom.
• Adapt teaching methods to achieve student goals.
• Participate as a member of the education team. May attend parent conferences.
• Other duties as assigned.
