Job summary

Clarkston WA District Office is hiring Substitute Para Educators to support classroom instruction under building administrators. The role requires a high school diploma with credential options (AA degree or 72 quarter or 48 semester credits) or Para-Pro test, plus CPR/First Aid & background checks.

Ideal candidates will have prior experience with children, strong communication skills with students, families and staff, and dependable punctuality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma must be uploaded into application.
• Must meet one of the credential options (AA degree or college credits or Para-Pro test).
• Experience working with children and students preferred.
• Must communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, administrators and staff.
• Fingerprint background check is required and background checks must meet standards.
• CPR/First aid certificate current or obtainable is required.
• Safe Schools Training is REQUIRED and must be completed before start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with small group and individual instruction.
• Correct daily student assignments across all areas.
• Operate office equipment as needed.
• Support students with teacher-monitored activities in the classroom.
• Assist with recess and crosswalk duties as needed.
• Monitor student objectives and safety.
• Aid in developing self-help, vocal, and motor skills.
• Maintain classroom discipline and implement behavior strategies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Building Administrator

Job Title: SubstituteParaEducators Reports to: Building Administrators FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, must be uploaded into application;
• Must have one of the following:

a. An AA degree (must upload unofficial transcript into application), OR

b. 72 quarter college credits (must upload unofficial transcript into application), OR

c. 48 semester college credits (must upload unofficial transcript into application), OR

d. A passing score on the ETS Para-Pro test. Para-Pro test must be taken and passed prior to subbing.

• Experience working with children and students preferred;
• Ability to communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, administrators and other school staff;
• Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies and procedures;
• Must be punctual and reliable;
• Fingerprint background check is required;
• Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards;
• Must have, or be able to obtain, current valid CPR/First aid certificate
• Safe Schools Training is REQUIRED , and needs to be completed BEFORE start date

Job Description:

• Assist teacher in providing small gropu and individual instruction;
• Correct daily work assignments of students in all areas;
• Operate office equipment;
• Assist individual students in teacher-monitored classrooms;
• Assist with recess and/or crosswalk duties as needed;
• Assist teacher in monitoring individual student objectives;
• Provide for student safety;
• Assist students with the development of self-help skills, vocal skills and fine and gross motor skills;
• Assist with maintaining discipline;
• Implement behavior intervention strategies;
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneal, crawl and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements;
• Other duties as assigned by Building Administrator
