Job summary

The Unalaska City School District is seeking individuals to serve on a substitute basis for intensive needs students. You will collaborate with teachers to implement the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and assist students with classroom duties.

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or GED and preferably be bilingual in Yup’ik and English. Experience with students with special needs is a plus. The role requires effective communication and the ability to work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Yup’ik and English preferred.
• Demonstrated successful experience working with young people with special needs in a school setting preferred.
• Ability to carry out instructional activities with a minimum of direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Work with specific students to present and reinforce lessons planned by the teacher.
• Assist students with non‑instructional classroom duties.
• Alert the teacher of any problems or special information about the students.
