Lower Kuskokwim School District in Eek, Alaska seeks a Substitute Intensive Needs Aide I to support students with special needs according to each student’s IEP. The role is part-time and located in a rural Alaskan environment.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, with Yup’ik/English bilingualism preferred, and a willingness to engage in ongoing training and collaborate with teachers and parents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual in Yup’ik and English preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs in school setting preferred.
• Ability to carry out instructional activities with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to participate in future training programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
• First aid/CPR certificate preferred.
• Ability to live and work in rural Alaskan environment.

Responsabilités

• Works with a specific student to present and reinforce lessons planned by the teacher.
• Sets up and operates equipment required by the student.
• Assists with non-instructional classroom duties (snack, restroom, clothing).
• Supervises students during lunch, assemblies, play, field trips.
• Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about students.
• Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information with ethical behavior.
• Maintains responsibility and positive attitude toward students and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
