Job summary

Coconino Community College is seeking a temporary guest instructor to deliver course content under the instructor of record. You will follow the syllabus, proctor exams, assign and grade work, and maintain detailed communication notes to support the course.

This at-will, non-benefit eligible position is on an as-needed basis when back-filling short-term absences. Master’s degree or 18 graduate credits are required for the discipline being taught, with knowledge of Title IX and FERPA emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide instruction specified by the course curriculum and syllabus in required modalities.
  • Ability to teach the assigned course effectively and aligned to content outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the content area.
  • Ability to maintain professional ethics and mandatory regulations such as Title IX and Ferpa.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment (age, gender, ethnicity, veteran status, ability status).
  • Skilled with online collaboration systems such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
  • Master's Degree in discipline or related discipline with 18 graduate level credits.

Responsibilities

  • Substitute for the instructor of record and deliver curriculum content with rigor and enthusiasm.
  • Proctor tests, assign and grade homework, projects and classwork as applicable.
  • Maintain detailed notes for the instructor of record to ensure clear communication.
  • Follow all College and department policies and procedures.
  • Work professionally with a culturally diverse student and employee base.

Job description

This is a temporary, non-benefit eligible position. This position is on an as-needed basis when the college is unable to back-fill a short-term classroom absence with existing staff.

Position Summary

The position works with the content area faculty and/or instructor they are substituting for to deliver curriculum content with rigor and professional enthusiasm. The guest instructor has the documented academic and experience background to effectively understand and convey the content to students.

  • This role references and follows the syllabus provided by the instructor of record for the course. This may include proctoring tests, group work, labs, issuing homework assignments and projects, grading assignments, projects and classroom work.
  • This role will maintain detailed notes for the instructor of record to ensure clear lines of communication.
  • This role will follow all College and department policies and procedures
  • This position is effective working with a culturally diverse employee and student base in a positive and professional manner
  • The position reports to the Lead Faculty of the content area and is considered an at-will temporary employee.
Salary Range

Hiring pay is $37.56 per hour taught, plus 1/2 hour of prep time for every hour in class.

  • Ability to work in a diverse environment (age, gender, ethnicity, veteran status, ability status). Skilled at operating standard classroom equipment
  • Skilled with online collaboration systems such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (written and verbal)
  • Master's Degree in the discipline area being taught; OR
  • Master's Degree in related discipline and 18 graduate level (500 level or higher) credits in the discipline area being taught.
