Job summary

Mt. Angel School District is seeking a Substitute Head Cook to plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals for students and staff in the Mt. Angel School District cafeterias. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to supervise helpers as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

To plan, prepare and serve delicious and nutritious meals to Mt. Angel School District students and staff in the most efficient and effective manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position must be able to perform with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to serve and prepare food, including meats and other main dishes, salads, sandwiches, desserts and work with portion control
• Ability to learn to operate industrial dishwashers, mixers, ovens, other related school kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils
• Ability to supervise cook assistant and student helpers who work in the kitchen/cafeteria
• Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with speed and accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable
• Supervise the preparation of all foods
• Responsible for any aspect of food preparation, serving and cleaning
• Assist in the serving of food to students and staff, ensuring supplies of food and beverages are maintained and spills are cleaned up
• Responsible for following standards of efficiency and sanitation set by the Health Department and Cook Manager / Food Service Director
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff
• Knowledge of basic computer skills, including data and word processing
• Participate in in-service training as assigned
• Act as a friendly ambassador for the Mt. Angel School District
• Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem appropriate to the Board or Administration
• Abides by federal and state laws and school district policies, procedures and rules.
• Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with community and staff.
• Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
• Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
• Attends work regularly and is punctual.
• Perform such other duties (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may be assigned.
