Job summary

Lucia Mar Unified School District is seeking a Substitute Custodian to help maintain district facilities in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition. The position is offered with a $20.20 hourly rate and may be filled part-time or full-time, with day and evening hours available.

Under general supervision, you will perform cleaning, minor repairs, and general upkeep across assigned schools. This role requires the ability to read and follow instructions and to lift and move heavy supplies as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
• Must be able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks; perform minor repairs; use power equipment; lift heavy items; maintain cooperative relations.
• Desirable: 1+ year custodial or maintenance experience in a public school.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning materials and equipment; floor maintenance; sanitation methods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain buildings and grounds in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition.
• Operate cleaning materials and equipment as needed.
• Perform minor repairs and assist with basic building maintenance.
• Work cooperatively with district staff to ensure cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications

• Required:
• Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
• Must be able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks; make minor repairs in building facility; use a variety of power equipment; lift And move heavy supplies and equipment; maintain cooperative relations.
• Desirable:
• One year or more of recent experience in custodial or maintenance work, preferably in a public school.
• Knowledge of the safe and effective use of cleaning materials and equipment; methods of floor maintenance, cleaning restrooms, and other areas of school buildings; sterilization and sanitation methods used in custodial work; decision‑making skills.
