Job summary

Upbring is seeking a Food Service Cook to prepare and serve meals across multiple locations, maintaining safety and sanitation per CACFP and Head Start standards.

The role requires high school education, a current food handler certification, and at least one year of cooking or food prep experience. Travel up to 40% may be required; working in a child-care environment with a focus on health and nutrition.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Food Handler Certification required.
• One year of experience as a cook, kitchen assistant, or in food preparation.
• Valid Texas driver's license and proof of auto insurance; ability to meet agency insurance guidelines.
• Familiarity with basic computer skills, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Prep, prepare, and serve large-volume meals according to proper methods.
• Coordinate with classroom staff to ensure sufficient quantities for scheduled mealtimes.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and in good operating condition.
• Wash and sanitize dishes and utensils daily.
• Assist in transporting and serving meals while managing quantities for multiple locations.
