DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine work requiring efficient performance of simple cleaning tasks under general supervision. The work involves only the thorough execution of tasks that follow a well-established routine.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)

1. Dusts chairs, tables, desks, and other furniture;
2. Washes windows, walls, woodwork, water closets, tubs, and bowls;
3. Sweeps, mops, and washes floors;
4. Gathers and disposes of refuse;
5. Cleans and polishes furniture and brass;
6. May act as crossing guard to assist elementary age children crossing school streets.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

• Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment;
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions;
• Ability to get along well with others;
• Ability to read and write;
• Thoroughness; cleanliness;
• Good physical condition.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None required, but some experience in building cleaning work is desirable.
