Job Description
FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A STATE AND NATIONAL CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK AND A CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT (CAN) CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
Position Title: CHILD CARE AIDE
Responsible To: Child Care Program Director
Basic Function: Assists the director in providing a safe and quality environment for children in the Child Care Program.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Monitors children in small or large groups to ensure their safety. Follows procedures to safeguard the health and safety of children.
- Assists the director in planning various activities for the children.
- Assists with organizing materials.
- Promotes positive parent and child interactions and activities.
- Participate in staff activities and in special training programs.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Safe practices in program and playground activities.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Basic record-keeping techniques.
- Health and safety regulations.
Ability to:
- Learn child guidance principles and practices.
- Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff members, both orally and in writing.
- Print and write legibly.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Learn and apply safety procedures and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Any combination equivalent to: High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a GED as required by Kentucky law.
- Experience working with children in an organized setting.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for classified personnel.
