New Haven Public Schools is looking for a Substitute Café Worker to assist in food preparation, service and general cleanliness in the cafeteria. The role includes engaging with students and working on tasks like serving meals and maintaining a clean dining area.
This position requires no previous experience, just a pleasant demeanor and ability to work cooperatively with others. The work hours range from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and salary is set at $16.94 per hour.
Work includes all areas of food preparation, service, and cleaning of equipment and utensils. May include operating equipment such as food chopper, juice maker, grater, mixer, coffee urn, dish machine, and cash register. Assists the cook lead person, serves during lunch period, cleans dining tables, chairs, and related areas. Work may include handling and counting money and keeping records. Work may be performed independently but under the direct supervision of the cook lead person or manager.
Salary: $16.94 per hour
Work hours may range from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You may be called for one day or several days depending on the needs of the department.
Possessing a Qualified Food Operator’s (QFO) Certification is preferred, but not necessary for employment.
