The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students to and from the designated school. This role ensures a secure and orderly environment on the school bus and promotes a positive relationship with students, parents, and school personnel through excellent customer service and professionalism.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, operate vehicle controls, and remain alert. The employee must be able to communicate effectively, use hands to operate equipment, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The role may also require walking, bending, kneeling, or assisting students with mobility needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This position is based in a mobile school transportation environment. Exposure to varying weather conditions is common, and the noise level can be moderate to high. The employee may be subject to long hours, early mornings, or split shifts depending on the transportation schedule. Field trip assignments and school event coverage may require occasional evening or weekend availability.
This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
