Work Year: 180 days per academic year as established annually by the Board.

General Summary

Drives bus to transport students over specified routes according to a time schedule. Complies with traffic regulations.

Essential Functions

• Drive a school bus safely and professionally.
• Perform and properly complete daily pre‑trip inspections.
• Comply with all traffic ordinances.
• Comply with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation.
• Participate in on‑site training.
• Show proficiency in handling and maneuvering a school bus.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED is required.

Physical Demands

The following describes the physical demands of the position. While performing the duties, the employee is continuously required to sit, occasionally needs to walk or stand, frequently bends or twists at the neck and trunk, repeats the same hand, arm or finger motion many times, uses hand strength to grasp tools, and constantly drives. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 75 pounds, such as students. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

Working Conditions

Work occurs in temperatures ranging from below 32°F to above 100°F and on slippery surfaces. The employee must meet deadlines with severe time constraints, interact with the public and other workers, and has direct responsibility for the safety and well‑being of others. Noise levels are frequently loud, requiring the employee to raise their voice to be heard.
