Job summary

GREEN Charter Schools is seeking a part-time School Bus Driver for the 2025-2026 school year. 4 hours per day (2 hours AM, 2 hours PM) on the district calendar. Air brake endorsement required. Transport students safely between campuses and events and perform daily vehicle inspections.

Eligible candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18+, pass a SLED background check, hold a SC CDL with P, S endorsements and Air Brake, and pass DOT drug/alcohol testing and DOT physical.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• SLED background check required.
• 18 years or older and SC School Bus Driver's Certificate.
• Valid SC CDL with P, S and Air Brake endorsements.
• DOT Drug/Alcohol Testing and DOT Physical required.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from GREEN school campuses and events.
• Assist students while boarding and alighting the bus, including disabled students.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily.
• Maintain discipline and safety on the bus.
• Keep accurate time sheets and route records.
• Maintain clean bus interior and communicate with staff as needed.

Job description:

To transport students/passengers to and from GREEN school campuses and school events in a safe and timely manner. Part time school bus driver for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will follow the GREEN Charter School academic calendar for 180 days. 4 hours per day, 2 hours AM, 2 hours PM. Air break endorsement required.

Performance Responsibilities

• Transport students/passengers to and from GREEN school campuses and school events
• Supervise and assist students/passengers (including disabled) to get on/off the bus
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily
• Discharge students/passengers at authorized GREEN campus stops only
• Maintain rules governing students/passengers conduct on bus
• Collect personal items left on the bus and return to students if possible
• Complete and maintain accurate and timely records and reports i.e. time sheets, route descriptions, seating charts, etc.
• Attend scheduled in-service training
• Adhere to regular service schedule for bus route
• Maintain a clean bus, i.e. sweeping, mopping, washing front and back windows, clean driver's area, etc.
• Maintain positive communication with school personnel and students
• Dress appropriately
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successfully pass a State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) criminal background check
• Eighteen (18) years old or over and possess a current South Carolina School Bus Driver's Certificate
• Possess a valid SC Commercial Driver’s License for a minimum of (1) year to include the following endorsements:
• P (Passenger) Endorsement: This is required for operating any vehicle designed to carry 16 or more passengers, including the driver
• S (School Bus) Endorsement: This is specific to school buses and requires special training in areas like child safety, loading/unloading procedures, and emergency evacuations unique to school environments.
• Air Brake Endorsement: This endorsement is necessary to operate vehicles with air brakes, which are common for large trucks and buses.
• Four (4) or less points against current SC driver’s license
• Four (4) or less points in previous twelve (12) months
• Successfully pass DOT Drug/Alcohol Testing and DOT Physical
