Qualifications/Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to meet school bus driver certification requirements:
• Michigan School Bus Driver Education course
• Commercial Driver License Examination for CDL B, with P and S plus Air Brakes
• Pass Michigan Department of Transportation physical examination requirements
• Clear Federal criminal background check
• Meet Federal DOT drug/alcohol testing requirements

Compensation

Substitute Driver rates for 2026-27 school year

Sub Bus Driver - $19.50

Sub Bus Wait - $14.75
