Job summary

Dayton Area School Consortium is seeking a transportation aide to support the bus driver, students, and parents. You will assist students including those with disabilities during boarding and disembarking, maintain order on the bus, and report incidents to the Transportation Supervisor.

Prior experience is preferred and CPI training will be scheduled and provided by HHCS. This role emphasizes safety, documentation, and collaboration with school staff.

Qualifications

  • Must maintain positive working relationship with bus driver, parents and students with disabilities.
  • Must be physically able to assist students in wheelchairs or with other special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
  • Inspects transportation list of students to prevent unauthorized travel.
  • Assists students in getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities.
  • Ensures orderly boarding and disembarking for students and guardians or school personnel.
  • Provides written records of violations of the student code to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Reports disruptive students to the appropriate authorities where the child is enrolled.
  • Collects and returns personal items left on the bus to the transportation secretary.
  • Attends meetings as requested by the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Completes all necessary forms and submits them on time.
  • Communicates between school staff and parents.
  • Follows all policies adopted by the Board of Education and applicable laws.
  • Other duties as directed by the Transportation Supervisor.
