Job summary

Huber Heights City Schools is seeking a Substitute Bus Aide for the Transportation department in Dayton, Ohio. The role supports bus drivers, helps students with disabilities, and ensures safe boarding and deboarding during the school day.

Responsibilities include maintaining order on the bus, reporting incidents, and coordinating with transportation staff. The position is classified as full-time with hours varying daily, during the school year.

Qualifications

• Must have a positive working relationship with bus driver, parents, and students with disabilities.
• Must be physically able to perform duties for students in wheelchairs or with other special needs.
• Prior experience preferred.
• CPI training is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
• Inspects transportation list of students to prevent unauthorized travel.
• Assists young or students with disabilities in getting on and off the bus.
• Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion, and safely to parent/guardian or school personnel.
• Provides written records of violations of the student code to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Reports disruptive students to the appropriate authorities where the child is enrolled.
• Collects and turns over to the transportation secretary those personal items left on the bus by students.
• Attends meetings as requested by the Transportation Supervisor.
• Completes all necessary forms as required and turns them in on time.
• Communication between school staff and parents.
• Follows all policies adopted by the Board of Education, and laws set forth by the local and state government.
• Other duties as may be directed by the Transportation Supervisor.
