Job summary

Lincoln Parish School District in Ruston, LA is seeking a Substitute Bus Aide to support daily student transportation operations. The role involves assisting students, supervising riders, and coordinating with the bus driver to ensure safe loading and unloading and a secure bus environment.

The position is as-needed and reports to the Transportation Supervisor. Candidates should be able to follow written instructions, work well with others, and maintain appropriate conduct during duty hours.

Qualifications

• Sufficient ability to follow written instructions and schedules.
• Sufficient ability to follow directions and work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Ride bus to individual student stops before and after school each school day.
• Provide direct/indirect supervision of students transported by school bus.
• Assist bus driver and staff with safe loading and unloading of students.
• Assist students on and off the bus, securing harness and/or seat belts.
• Maintain safe environment.
• Supervise student activity and behavior.
• Communicate with teacher(s), principal, parents, and Transportation Department.
• Maintain close communication with the bus driver and special education teachers.
• Develop a cooperative working relationship with other school personnel serving students transported on the school bus.
• Collaborate with bus driver in students seating assignments.
• Attend training in-service as directed.
• Exhibit at all times appropriate role modeling through language, dress, hygiene, and expressing appropriate attitudes toward sex, criminal behavior, and the use of drugs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Transportation Supervisor.
