Job summary

YWCA Central Massachusetts in Worcester, MA is seeking a Substitute Aide to support classroom programming on an as-needed schedule, Monday through Friday. The role supports the Lead Teacher, upholding NAEYC standards and health and safety guidelines.

Applicants should be at least 18, have a high school diploma, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered and training is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Ability to work with families and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Successful completion of all required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing a curriculum and maintaining an environment where children can learn and grow at their own pace, interact comfortably with adults, and have the opportunity to participate in individual and group (small and large) activities that create an inclusive learning environment.
• Supervise children in play and structured activities; Maintain teacher/student ratios at all times.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for children; performing light housekeeping duties as needed.
• Greet parents daily and interactions are welcoming and inclusive
• Ability to follow directions from classroom teacher and communicate any out of ordinary information regarding the children to the classroom teacher.
• Ability to relate with co-workers and parents in a cooperative/positive manner.
• Perform other duties as requested and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Dedicated to building and expanding skills relevant to the role as well as supporting the growth of others on the team.

Job Title: Substitute Aid Department: Childcare

Reports to: Lead Teacher Effective Date: March 2025

Schedule: As needed basis, Monday through Friday Remote Position: No

Job Summary:

As a Substitute Aide you will assist in managing the ongoing programming in assigned classroom(s) in a professional and confidential manner and in a way which incorporates the developmental/culturally sensitive philosophy of the Center to ensure the highest quality of care, as well as compliance with NAEYC standards, DEEC/ QRIS requirements, and health and safety regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Requires good physical stamina and agility
