Job summary

Knoxville Montessori School is seeking a reliable substitute teacher to provide coverage as needed throughout the school year in a Montessori environment.

Responsibilities include following teacher plans, supervising students, and ensuring safety while supporting classroom routines. This is a part-time, as-needed role with typical school-day hours and occasional aftercare coverage.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or current enrollment in a bachelor’s program preferred.
• Experience with children ages 2–18 in educational or care settings is a plus.

Position Overview
We are seeking reliable, flexible substitute teachers to support our classrooms as needed throughout the school year. Substitutes will step into Montessori environments to assist with daily routines, provide classroom coverage, and ensure the safety and well-being of our students.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program preferred.
• Experience working with children ages 2–18 years old in an educational or care setting perfered.
• Understanding of child development and interest in Montessori philosophy.
• Reliable, organized, and self-motivated with a strong sense of teamwork.
• Clear and compassionate communicator (both verbal and written).
• Ability to adapt to changing needs and schedules with a positive attitude.
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Montessori experience a plus, but not required.

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time, as-needed position.
• School day hours vary depending on classroom needs (generally between 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional aftercare coverage until 5:30 PM).
• Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
