Job summary

HDR seeks a Substation Technical Specialist in the United States-Texas region. This role focuses on engineering tasks, CAD design, and preparing design documents under supervision, contributing to reliable substation projects.

Ideal candidates will have an associate degree in engineering with at least five years of relevant experience, plus strong communication and collaboration skills. HDR values an active employee-owned culture and strong adherence to industry standards.

Qualifications

• Associate-degree in engineering or related field required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported.
• Aptitude and hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer.
• Design tasks involving judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying engineering techniques and procedures.
• Production of design drawings and construction documents through the use of computer aided design and other software.
• Preparation of design or quantity calculations.
• Preparation of specifications and contract documents.
• Coordination with other disciplines as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervising engineer.

In the role of Substation Technical Specialist, we'll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering


• Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience


• A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported


• Aptitude and demonstrated hands‑on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported


• Knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported


• Proficient with Microsoft Office


• Good verbal and written communication skills
