Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Structural Engineer to join our growing power delivery team in Houston, TX. You will lead structural design for high voltage substations up to 500kV, oversee foundations and steel structures, and collaborate with PMs across multiple offices.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of HV substation experience, familiarity with industry standards (AISC-360, ASCE-7, IEEE), and proficiency in STAAD, RISA, and PLS software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and PE license.
• Minimum 3 years of design experience for HV switchyards and substations.
• Familiarity with AISC-360, ASCE-7, ACI-318 and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and execute structural design tasks for substation components and foundations.
• Coordinate with PMs and project teams across locations to lead engineering work.
• Develop and maintain standards and contribute to quality checks per HDR QMS.
