Job summary

Cava Electric LLC is seeking an experienced Safety Representative for our Substation Division to oversee safety and health on substation and utility-scale projects. The role emphasizes grounding, lockout/tagout, and energized work protocols.

You will conduct daily inspections, investigations, and hazard assessments, maintain records, and develop Job Hazard Analyses while mentoring crews and coordinating with managers and clients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in safety investigations related to 12kV–345kV substations.
  • OSHA 30 is required; OSHA 500 is a plus; First Aid/CPR/AED training preferred.
  • Experience with safety program administration and incident reporting.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and pass drug and background checks.

  • Lead safety program initiatives and enforce jobsite safety under safety manager.
  • Perform daily safety inspections, audits and hazard assessments per standards.
  • Maintain records, reports and compliance documentation.
  • Investigate accidents and prepare reports with preventive actions.
  • Develop Job Hazard Analyses and mentor crews on safety.
  • Collaborate with Division Manager, supervisors, and clients on safety issues.
  • Organize and lead on-site safety meetings.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Safety Representative to join our Substation Division. This role is dedicated to overseeing safety and health operations on substation and utility scale projects. The ideal candidate has direct substation experience and a strong understanding of substation-specific hazards, grounding practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and energized work protocols.

Duties

  • Execute safety program initiatives under the direction of the safety manager including initiation, enforcement, maintenance, and administration of jobsite safety
  • Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments while monitoring compliance with Cava Electric’s Safety Program, OSHA, NFPA 70E, NESC, and client safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Conduct accident investigations, prepare investigation reports, and recommend preventative measures
  • Develop and review Job Hazard Analyses and serve as a field resource and mentor to crews
  • Collaborate with the Division Manager, supervisors, and clients to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions
  • Arrange and organize on-site safety meetings

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926/1910, NFPA 70E, and NESC standards
  • Understanding of substation grounding practices, lockout/tagout, and energized work protocols
  • Ability to conduct safety meetings with groups of 20 or more employees
  • Clear documentation and incident investigation skills

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in safety investigation across 12kV to 345kV substation voltage
  • OSHA 30 required, OSHA 500 a plus, plus First Aid, CPR, and AED training
  • At least one of the following: professional safety certification, a safety-related college degree with 2+ years in safety management, 5 years in a professional technical safety management or electric utility operations role, or incident investigation training and experience
  • Willing to travel to job sites
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check
