The instructor will evaluate trainee performance, maintain curriculum, and coordinate schedules. Travel up to 25% is possible; a CDL is preferred. This full contract position emphasizes safety, mentoring, and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience as a Substation Electrician (4–7 years).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution systems, electrical construction, and safety practices.
• Familiarity with OSHA, NESC, NEC, and NFPA 70E standards.
• Ability to climb structures, work at heights, and operate bucket trucks or aerial lifts.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain one.
• Experience training, mentoring, or leading crews is preferred.
• Instructional or adult education certifications are a plus.

Substation Safety Instructor

Contract: 16-month W2 contract

Pay: $30-$33/hr + optional medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) match

Position Summary

This role focuses on teaching electrical systems, safety procedures, equipment operation, and field work practices while helping employees develop the skills needed for success in the utility industry.

Working Conditions

• Combination of classroom, training yard, and field environments.
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and outdoor work.
• Travel up to 25%, with occasional travel up to 50% to remote locations.
