Job summary

CEI in Williamsport, MD, is seeking a Substation Safety Instructor on a 16-month W2 contract. The role focuses on teaching electrical systems, safety procedures, equipment operation, and field work practices while helping employees develop skills for the utility industry.

You will deliver classroom and hands-on training, cover OSHA/NESC/NEC and NFPA 70E standards, evaluate trainees, maintain records, and support storm restoration projects as needed. Travel up to 25-50% to remote locations.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience as a Substation Electrician required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of transmission and distribution systems and safety practices.
• Familiarity with OSHA, NESC, NEC, NFPA 70E standards.
• Ability to climb structures and operate bucket trucks or aerial lifts.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and field training on substation operations.
• Teach OSHA, NESC, NEC, and company safety standards.
• Demonstrate proper use of tools, climbing techniques, and rigging.
• Evaluate trainee performance with tests and field observations.
• Provide coaching and feedback for employee development.
• Maintain training records and curriculum updates.
• Coordinate training schedules with management and other instructors.
• Stay current on utility industry tools and practices.
• Assist with workforce development and storm restoration as needed.
