Job summary

Tampa Electric is seeking a Substation Engineering professional to provide engineering and operations support for substation structures and equipment on major capital projects. You will oversee contractors, verify TEC standards, and ensure quality across design, procurement, and field activities.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering education with experience in power system engineering. Florida licensing is preferred, and a strong emphasis is placed on safety, collaboration, and

Qualifications

• Engineer I requires 18 months of experience or 12 months with FE.
• Engineer II requires minimum 4 years of experience.
• Senior Engineer requires minimum 8 years of experience and Florida PE eligibility.
• Engineering Technologist I/II require 3.5/6 years of experience and FE where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and oversight for substation structures and equipment on major capital projects.
• Develop cost estimates and design foundations, layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Coordinate with internal teams and contractors to ensure TEC standards and contractor quality.
• Evaluate materials, procurement, and equipment delivery for project accuracy and compliance.
• Provide field support, data collection, and field-to-design feedback for future improvements.
