Job summary

Tampa Electric seeks an experienced Substation Engineer to provide engineering and oversight for major capital projects and to help ensure TEC standards and contractor work meet quality requirements.

The role involves designing structures and equipment, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors, and supporting field activities from planning through closeout. A Florida FE-eligible track is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in power system engineering and operations.
• ABET degree required; FE eligibility within 2 years.
• Knowledge of substation design, equipment specifications, foundation design, grounding, permitting.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and oversight for substation Structures & Equipment projects.
• Develop equipment specifications, cost estimates, site layouts and drawings.
• Represent Substation Engineering in PM processes; coordinate with internal teams and contractors.
• Evaluate materials, procurement, and delivery; ensure project accounting accuracy.
• Provide field engineering support during construction and closeout; review contractor work.
