Job summary

Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. seeks a Senior Substation Engineer to provide engineering support, lead projects, and ensure reliable operation of substations in the Tampa area.

The role requires a PE preferred, ABET-certified Electrical Engineering degree, and a minimum of six years’ related experience in substation design, calculations, and compliance with IEEE, NERC, and related standards. Strong communication and project management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• Minimum six (6) years of professional engineering experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and understand typical utility substation diagrams.
• Knowledge of 3-phase AC systems and utility DC systems.
• PE licensure preferred; PE or Master’s can substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and/or support project planning, development, engineering, construction planning, execution and closeout.
• Provide technical work directions to lower-level engineers and oversee contractors.
• Lead cross-functional teams to develop and deliver engineering solutions for substations.
• Perform engineering calculations and studies to support project scope.
• Prepare and present written and oral reports on technical issues and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and NERC requirements.
