Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc. is expanding its Golden Service Center and seeking skilled technicians to ensure the safe operation of electric distribution and transmission systems.

This role involves testing, calibration, and commissioning of protective relaying and area metering equipment, with opportunities for travel and after-hours responses. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 5+ years in protective/power control equipment, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5+ years experience with operation, maintenance, and testing of system protective or power control equipment.
• Strong knowledge of computer usage, operating systems, and relevant testing software.
• Willingness for after-hours work, emergency responses, and travel.
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs and work in adverse weather.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operation of electric system power production and delivery.
• Perform testing, calibration, commissioning, and analysis on protective relaying and power control equipment.
• Communicate with customers and coordinate tasks and schedules.
• Travel as needed, including overnights, and respond to after-hours callouts.
