Job summary

Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. seeks a skilled Protection & Control Technician to maintain and enhance the reliability of Texas electrical systems from our Krum, TX location.

You will test, configure, and commission high‑voltage protection equipment, interpret schematics, and support relay protection installations while coordinating with engineering teams. Join a safety‑driven, collaborative team at Brazos Electric.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of electrical or substation experience.
• Completion of a relevant 2-year electrical certification program or degree may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Test, maintain, troubleshoot and commission protection and control systems for high-voltage substations.
• Program, configure, and verify operation of protective relays and control equipment.
• Install, inspect and maintain substation equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, reclosers, CTs, PTs).
• Perform electrical testing, calibration and repair of breakers, reclosers, and transformer controls.
• Interpret and update drawings, schematics and protection logic documentation.
• Analyze relay event records and disturbance data to diagnose issues and support actions.
• Install and validate relay protection schemes; implement settings changes.
