Job description

ICF is seeking a Substation Protection & Control Designer to work on the design of relay, protection, and control projects for high voltage substations ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV under the direction of the Electrical Project Lead. The role involves innovative engineering services for electric utilities across the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Design and prepare the following protection and control drawings:
    • Substation Relay One Lines and Three Lines
    • AC/DC Schematics
    • Substation Panel Layouts
    • Substation Wiring Diagram and Cable Schedule
    • SCADA and Communication Diagrams
    • Point to Point Wiring Diagrams
  • Coordinate with physical, settings, and drafting disciplines to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
  • Apply client standards related to the work.
  • Perform and ensure company QA/QC processes are followed on all design packages.
  • Continuously improve engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • AA or High School Diploma
Preferred Skills
  • 3+ years of detailed wiring design experience with single line, schematics, and relay panels.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
  • Understanding of AC/DC control diagrams for point-to-point wiring.
  • Ability to assist lead engineers with initial design requirements.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI industry standards.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.

Pay Range

$74,090.00 – $138,549.00 (Full‑time, Nationwide Remote, US).
