Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a dynamic and driven Substation Project Manager for the Pacific Northwest, based out of Vancouver, WA. This key role manages and oversees high-impact electrical substation projects across the Pacific Northwest, blending technical expertise with strong leadership.

You will work within the Transmission & Distribution practice, guiding projects from planning through completion while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and financial goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited curriculum.
• Minimum of 7 years of engineering design and engineering project management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, budget, and establish/achieve critical project objectives.
• Oversee overall project success (safety, quality, profitability).
• Provide management of engineering projects from concept to completion with understanding of siting, permitting, planning, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, and material management.
• Coordinate with project team to ensure client satisfaction and alignment across Regional/Branch Offices.
• Identify opportunities early, prepare proposals, lead client presentations, and negotiate contracts.
• Support development and maintenance of business plan; lead/provide proposal efforts for profitable growth.
