Job summary

ISG is seeking a driven Substation Project Manager to lead complex substation projects for utility clients. You will guide multi-phase projects from concept through commissioning, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing scope, schedule, and budget.

The role is centered on delivering safe, reliable infrastructure and maintaining client relationships. Based in North Olmsted, OH, the position supports FirstEnergy projects and offers ownership opportunities through ISG Employee Ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in substation engineering, design, or consulting.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency with engineering design tools and CAD systems.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Familiarity with NEC/NESC codes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Leads execution of high complexity substation projects, including greenfield substations and upgrades.
• Owns full project lifecycle: scope, cost estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Serves as primary client contact, translating goals into actionable plans.
• Directs multidisciplinary teams across electrical, civil, and structural engineering.
• Contributes to proposals, fee development, and resource allocation.
• Implements QA/QC and conducts design reviews for reliability.
• Oversees protection, control, and physical substation designs (one-lines, relays).
• Supports field engineering, commissioning, and troubleshooting during energization.
• Mentors junior staff and represents ISG in industry events.
