Ampirical in Duluth, GA seeks a Substation Physical Engineer Supervisor to lead the in-office substation physical design team. You will supervise, mentor, and design high-voltage substation components meeting industry standards.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (ABET), 8+ years of substation design experience, and a PE license is preferred. This role offers day-one benefits and a strong focus on professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and train engineering staff in substation physical design.
• Deliver accurate designs of high-voltage substation components meeting industry and client standards.
• Design substation systems and components including general arrangement, equipment layout, grounding, conduit, and bills of material.
• Prepare construction drawing packages for bids and review submittals for alignment with design and constructability.
• Perform quality reviews of electrical engineering work for peers and subcontractors.
• May act as Lead Engineer and Engineer of Record for assigned projects.
• Manage development of project proposals, bid preparation, and project schedules.
• Assist project teams during construction on substation-related issues.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Travel to client sites as necessary.

We are looking for a Substation Physical Supervisor in our office in Duluth, GA!

What You’ll Do

• Supervise, mentor, and train engineering staff in substation physical design
• Deliver accurate designs of high-voltage electrical substation components that meet industry and client standards
• Design substation systems and components including general arrangement, equipment layout, grounding, conduit, and bills of material
• Prepare construction drawing packages for bids and review incoming submittals for alignment with design and constructability
• Perform quality reviews of electrical engineering work for both peers and subcontractors
• May act as Lead Engineer and Engineer of Record for assigned projects
• Manage the development of project proposals, bid preparation, and project schedules
• Assist project teams during construction on substation-related issues
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers
• Travel to client sites and field locations as necessary

What You Bring

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university

Experience

• 8+ years of substation physical design experience in the electric utility industry
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor software (2D/3D modeling experience is a plus)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
