Senior Engineer – Substation Physical

Mott MacDonald, a leading consulting firm, seeks a Senior Engineer to join our Substation Physical Team. The role involves technical leadership in substation design and oversight of engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review, and management of technical documentation for substation projects, including conceptual and detailed design, specifications, and studies.
• Produce thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and drawings.
• Plan, organize, schedule, coordinate, and monitor work activities with other multi‑discipline project team members.
• Review design work completed by peers and ensure compliance with scope and QA/QC requirements.
• Provide design activities according to applicable codes, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Mentor and guide developing engineers within the department.
• Contribute to continuous development of internal engineering standards, tools, and work processes.
• Provide technical support and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.
• Support business planning, development, and training.
• Manage projects through design and construction including RFI response, equipment submittal reviews, and coordination meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 8+ years of substation design experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and CDEGS/WinIGS.
