Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Substation P&C Designer for our Duluth, GA office to support the Power & Energy Substation Team. You will contribute to designs and specifications for electrical infrastructure projects, with a focus on protection and control drawings, schematics, and panel layouts.

Under general supervision, you will produce precise CAD designs, collaborate with engineers, ensure compliance with codes, and help prepare multiple design versions for reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years post-education experience in substation design, supporting P&C design for electrical power projects.
• High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience with drafting and design support principles, codes, and standards is essential.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection from sites, surveys, drawings, and specifications to support P&C design.
• Use CAD software to develop substation drawings including schematics, wiring, interconnections, and panel layouts.
• Provide design support ensuring accurate dimensions, materials, and maintainability per standards.
• Verify calculations, manage change orders, and interpret contract plans and specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and other professionals across project phases.
• Ensure plans adhere to codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Prepare multiple design versions for engineer review.
